'On Site' or 'Point of Care' Oral Fluid / Saliva Kit
Firstly, it should be noted that oral fluid and saliva are not the same thing. Saliva comes from numerous glands lining the mouth, while oral fluid consists of saliva plus many other fluids such as sputum from the lungs and throat, and nasal drainage etc.
Drugs will permeate the body, irrespective of whether they are ingested, snorted or swallowed. So any oral fluid can be used for drug testing, not just saliva. Oral fluid is very close to blood serum, so if it’s in the oral fluid it’s in the blood. And of course if it’s in the blood it’s in the brain too, and so the drug impairs the person. This view is becoming more widely acknowledged as a test for impairment by drugs, just as it is with alcohol detection.
ScreenSafe UK’s Multi-Drug Screen Device is a rapid, one-step screening analysis for the simultaneous, qualitative detection of multiple drugs and drug metabolites in human saliva/oral fluid.
The Multi-Drug Screen Device works in a very similar way to the urine “Point of Care” device, but can only test for 6 drug types. Results are screening results only and any “non-negatives” will require lab confirmation for qualitative results. |
