Blood Testing

The testing of bloods for a number of markers can be a very useful addition to aid interpretation of other results. Where no hair is available, it is also the next best "window of detection" when wishing to look back over time for alcohol use. We would always recommend carrying out hair & blood tests together where possible (for alcohol markers) to provide a complete picture of evidence.

ScreenSafe UK offer a number of blood analyses either as stand alone tests or combined. Paired with our detailed expert results interpretation, the results will undoubtedly add value to any case.

Analyses include:

  • FBC (Full Blood Count) [Profile includes: Hb, WBC,RBC, PCV, MCV, MCHC, MCH, Platelets, Film Comment]
  • LFT (Liver Function Test)Profile includes: Total protein, Total bilirubin, Alk Phosphatate, AST, ALT, Gamma GT, Albumin, Globulin]
  • CDT (Carbohydrate Deficient Transferrin)

Liver function tests can generally point to significantly excessive alcohol use over the last, say, three to six weeks. The CDT test is much more specific in terms of locating distorted function to alcohol misuse as opposed to anything else. The CDT will also measure a significant increase in alcohol intake over roughly that same period. ScreenSafe UK offers a two tier expert interpretation of results (basic and more detailed) to assist you on receipt of results. If you prefer, we can deliver results to you with no interpretation.
